Fundraising for Nepal As the leader of Nepal Service Community in NLCS Jeju, our school’s service troupe had just come back from our second annual service trip to Nepal when the big Nepal earthquake struck the Himalayan lines. Heartbroken and traumatized by the videos and pictures on internet of everywhere we went, everyone we met, disappearing into the doom of fallen mountains and buildings, not a lot of us in Korea were ready to take action and was in fact keeping ourselves even busier to avoid the pain, responsibility, and the guilt that we had survived the cataclysm by a mere week. I raised 24 million KRW (approximately 24,000 dollars). We had exceeded our goal by far and I wanted use the fund raised as efficiently and as appropriately as possible. So we went on an assessment trip to Gatlang, the rural village of Nepal in the Himalayan Lines that we were specifically funding (the village school tied to our school). During the trip I took 5 of my artistic friends together (age 13~17) to photograph and film bits of Nepal to take back with us to Korea and share with the rest of the country.
